We’re glad you’re here.
Now, before we go any further…
Let’s address the elephant in the room.
No… AC University isn’t a real university.
You won’t receive a degree.
There are no student loans.
No football team.
No fraternity houses.
No overpriced parking permits.
And if you tell people you graduated from AC University…
People are probably going to look at you funny.
(We’d probably do the same.)
Congratulations! You’re Accepted.
Admission requirements were extremely competitive.
To qualify, you had to meet at least one of the following:
- Own a heating and air conditioning system.
- Be thinking about buying one.
- Wonder why your thermostat suddenly went blank.
- Ask, “What the heck is an inverter?”
- Smell dirty socks every time your AC turns on.
- Or frantically Google, “Why is my air conditioner making that noise?” at 11:47 on a Saturday night.
If any of those apply…
Congratulations.
You’re officially enrolled.
So… What Are We Trying to Do Here?
Honestly?
We’re trying to explain heating and air conditioning the same way we’d explain it if we were standing in your driveway after a service call.
Because after years in this industry, we noticed something.
Homeowners ask the same questions over and over again.
Not because they aren’t paying attention.
Because nobody ever teaches this stuff.
Think about it.
Most people spend thousands of dollars on a heating and air conditioning system.
Then someone starts talking about capacitors…
Contactors…
TXVs…
Static pressure…
Communicating systems…
Superheat…
Subcooling…
And everyone politely nods while secretly thinking,
“I have absolutely no idea what this person is talking about.”
We figured there had to be a better way.
Here’s Our Promise
If we were standing in your driveway right now…
This is exactly how we’d explain it.
No confusing technical jargon just to sound smart.
No scare tactics.
No pressure.
No pretending every repair means you need a new air conditioner.
Sometimes the answer is expensive.
Sometimes the answer is simple.
Sometimes the answer is,
“Go flip the breaker back on.”
Believe it or not…
I’d much rather tell you that over the phone than charge you to drive across town and push a reset button.

Probably.
From a business standpoint, this whole thing is a little backwards.
Most companies write articles hoping you’ll call them.
We’re writing lessons that might actually help you avoid calling us.
That probably won’t make it into a marketing textbook.
But we believe educated homeowners make better decisions.
Sometimes those decisions lead people to us.
Sometimes they don’t.
Either way…

We’ve accomplished exactly what we set out to do.
Why We Care So Much
Because we don’t think fixing air conditioners is actually what we do.
We think we serve people.
Air conditioners just happen to be the reason we get invited into their homes.

Or help a family make a wise decision.

A Few Things You’ll Notice Around Campus
Unlike most universities…
Our campus is made up of service trucks, attics, garages, crawl spaces, and the occasional rooftop package unit.
Our professors occasionally carry gauges instead of briefcases.
Our office hours sometimes end with us covered in attic insulation.
And our favorite classroom is your driveway after we’ve fixed your air conditioner.
You’ll also notice we joke around a little.
That’s intentional.
Heating and air conditioning doesn’t have to be boring.
If we can make you smile while teaching you something useful…
You’ll probably remember it.
Our Curriculum
Whether you’re trying to understand:
- How a heat pump works
- What all those weird HVAC parts actually do
- Why your thermostat went blank
- Why your heat pump is smoking
- Why your air conditioner smells like dirty socks
- Whether you should repair or replace your system
- Or what the heck an inverter is…
There’s a lesson for that.
Take one.
Take ten.
There’s no tuition.
No final exam.
Well…
Not officially.
🎓 AC University Orientation
Before your first lesson, there are just a few things you should know.
✅ You are not expected to become an HVAC technician.
✅ Asking questions is encouraged.
✅ Googling HVAC questions at two o’clock in the morning is perfectly normal.
✅ Your homework is to check your air filter.
✅ If you already know what a TXV is… you may have accidentally enrolled in the wrong school.
✅ Extra credit is awarded for safely clearing your own condensate drain before calling us.
One Last Thing…
Our hope isn’t that you become an HVAC expert.
Our hope is that you become a more informed homeowner.
Because informed homeowners ask better questions.
Make better decisions.
Avoid unnecessary repairs.
And are much harder to pressure into buying something they don’t need.
We think that’s a good thing.
So grab a cup of coffee.
Pick a lesson that sounds interesting.
Learn something new.
Laugh a little.
And if you ever catch yourself explaining the difference between a capacitor and a contactor to your neighbor…
