What Should a Proper AC Replacement Include in Florida?
A new air conditioner isn’t just two new metal boxes. Installation quality determines whether the equipment delivers the comfort, reliability and efficiency you paid for.
Before installation: size the job
Evaluate the home’s load, equipment match, duct system, return airflow, electrical requirements, refrigerant lines, drain routing, equipment location and applicable permits. Reusing existing components may be appropriate, but they should be inspected for compatibility and condition.
During installation: details matter
Correct supports and clearances, safe electrical connections, properly configured condensate protection, sound refrigerant piping practices, pressure testing, and evacuation are important. The correct procedures depend on the equipment and manufacturer instructions.
At start-up: prove the system works
Technicians should verify appropriate airflow and static pressure, electrical operation, controls, drainage, refrigerant charge using manufacturer procedures, and cooling or heating operation as applicable. A system turning on isn’t the same as a properly commissioned installation.
What paperwork should you receive?
Ask for equipment model and serial numbers, warranty information, permit and inspection details as applicable, operating instructions, and a clear description of completed work.
Why do quotes vary so much?
Some proposals include needed corrections that others omit. Some include extras that aren’t necessary. Compare the actual scope and ask why each major item is included.
