Welcome to AC University. Today we’re going to discuss one of the great mysteries of modern civilization:
HVAC pricing.
Apparently, Prices Are Classified Information
Spend five minutes looking at HVAC websites and you’ll notice something interesting.
They’ll tell you everything except what anything costs.
You’ll learn that they’re:
Family owned.
Trusted since 1973.
Committed to your comfort.
Standing by 24/7.
There will probably be a picture of an extremely clean technician holding a wrench.
But a price?
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Let’s not get crazy.
For that, we’re going to need your name, phone number, email address, home address, equipment age, mother’s maiden name, and apparently a scheduled appointment.
We decided to try something different.
We’re just going to tell you.
But Every House Is Different!
Yes.
This is usually where someone from the HVAC industry jumps out from behind a condenser and explains that it’s impossible to show HVAC pricing because every installation is different.
And they’re right about one thing:
Every installation IS different.
A 3-ton heat pump replacement in a garage isn’t necessarily going to cost the same as a 3-ton system hanging from threaded rod in an attic apparently designed by Satan himself.
Equipment changes.
Access changes.
Electrical requirements change.
Ductwork changes.
Permitting changes.
There are legitimate reasons two seemingly similar HVAC jobs can have different prices.
But that doesn’t mean homeowners need to know nothing.
There’s a pretty large area between:
“Every job costs exactly $7,500.”
and
“Pricing? You’ll have to schedule an appointment to unlock that information.”
We think there’s a better way.

This is where things get fun.

Not:

*Price applies to one air conditioner installed during a lunar eclipse in an unoccupied warehouse with existing permits.
Actual prices.
For example, you might find a 3.5-ton package heat pump replacement in Flagler Beach.
Or a two-stage system in St. Augustine.
Or an inverter system in Daytona Beach.
Or a $156 clogged-drain repair.
Because that’s HVAC.
Sometimes you need a new system.
Sometimes you need someone to remove six pounds of biological warfare from a drain line.
We’re Showing Discounts Too
This was important to us.
If our standard price was $7,100 and that customer paid $6,500 after discounts, we’re showing:
Standard Price: $7,100
Price After Discounts: $6,500
Because otherwise we’re not really showing you what happened.
And that’s the entire point.
This Isn’t a Price Guarantee
If you find a 3-ton system on our map for $8,000, that doesn’t automatically mean your 3-ton system will cost $8,000.
Your installation might be easier.
It might be harder.
You might need ductwork.
You might have different equipment.
Your air handler might be located somewhere that causes our technician to question every career decision he’s made since high school.
The map isn’t intended to replace an estimate.
It’s intended to give you something homeowners rarely get in HVAC:
Context.
Before you ever call us.
Why Would We Show Everyone Our Prices?
We’ve actually thought about that.
Our competitors can see them too.
We figure they probably already have a decent idea what HVAC systems cost.
We’re more interested in whether you know.
Because we’re building our website for homeowners—not other HVAC companies.
We want you to research.

Learn how your heat pump works.
Understand what repairs cost.
Look at installations we’ve completed.
Click around your neighborhood.
Compare equipment.
Look at our prices.
By the time you call Klein Cooling, we’d be perfectly happy if you’ve already spent an hour figuring out whether we’re the right company for you.
Maybe HVAC Pricing Doesn’t Need to Be a Secret
We’re not claiming to have revolutionized capitalism here.
We put prices on things.
Restaurants figured this out a while ago.
So did grocery stores.
And car dealerships.
We’re just catching up.
